It is hopeful because I believe we humans are learning, however slowly, to resist widespread evil, though there is still a very long way to go. We fight the trafficking of women and children still, but we are no longer fighting widespread, legalized slavery and an open slave trade; there is still genocide, but there is more protest and more recognition that it is wrong; injustice still has far too much power, yet apartheid has fallen. Despite the crucifixion, there is a resurrection, and whether we live or die, we are the Lord's.Janinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08044300714006642692noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8971931882147165593.post-57909375704648414302010-03-03T07:28:55.386-08:002010-03-03T07:28:55.386-08:00Prayers on the way.
Thank you for a powerful exam...Prayers on the way.

Thank you for a powerful example of preaching that connects a pressing issue in your community with the day's scriptures. Too often one side or the other is ignored or given lip service (generally the latter in my experience).Dr. Laura Marie Grimeshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10372741914558791844noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8971931882147165593.post-32053301468115702362010-02-26T13:28:15.496-08:002010-02-26T13:28:15.496-08:00I was so sorry to read of the brewing conflicts in...I was so sorry to read of the brewing conflicts in your town, but was very moved by the reflections this situation called forth from you. Is it wearying -- or hopeful -- that Jesus' words, as he faced such forces of darkness, are so apt?Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10721901796026122787noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8971931882147165593.post-58042345882888933792010-02-23T08:42:27.799-08:002010-02-23T08:42:27.799-08:00I ask the prayers of all who read this for Grant C...I ask the prayers of all who read this for Grant County, Oregon as we work to respond to the presence of a hate group. There are several Facebook groups with lively conversations going on if anyone is moved to learn more. The local newspaper is the Blue Mountain Eagle and they are doing an excellent job covering this.Janinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08044300714006642692noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8971931882147165593.post-58480194856256433722010-02-23T07:38:20.770-08:002010-02-23T07:38:20.770-08:00I love this whole paragraph. I believe that he calls us to meet their deception and violence with absolute refusal and without compromise, with clarity and honesty. I believe he still hopes to gather them in and heal them if they will choose to accept his infinite, motherly love. That love is not easy to accept. It demands growth and change that are often painful, and never settles for easy answers. It does not make us invulnerable to the evil others may choose to do, though our trust in God tells us that love always overcomes that evil."revkjarlahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03516266924883899536noreply@blogger.com
